Back in 2010, Audi announced the production of electric supercar.2014 Audi R8 eTron concept demonstrates how emotional and dynamic can be electric mobility. Its two electric motors that power obtained through 48.6kWh develop 380KS battery power along with 820Nm of torque. However, while the development of the R8 Etron flowed fast, battery technology for electric cars did not. Plans for mass production have disappeared, and the German giant has recently announced plans to produce only ten prototypes, each at a cost of about one million euros that audience show the capabilities of this car.
Unlike the original eTron, which provided four-wheel, new rear 2014 Audi R8 eTron provides traction thus reduced vehicle weight by 160 kg. 2014 Audi R8 eTron powered by an electric motor that develops an impressive 376 hp and 824 Nm of torque, which is enough to accelerate to 100 km / h in just 4.2 seconds. To preserve the life of the battery top speed is limited to 200 km / h, but with minimal changes to Audi’s engineers were able to increase to 250 km / h. Journalists British magazine AutoCar got the chance to test one of the rare prototypes and announce that in most cases the driver will not even notice the difference. This can largely be seen and in terms of design and interior which speeches were identical as in the production car. With city drive 2014 Audi R8 eTron is able to cross the 214 kilometers between charges, but at higher speeds the distance is less than 50 kilometers.
Although charging only take one hour, Audi says it still is not satisfied with the progress achieved by the maximum distance between charges in the “drive harder”. For this reason, even buyers who have deep enough pockets to afford 2014 Audi R8 eTron will not be able to do so, but still Audi’s engineers have once again demonstrated his great ability. However, when you consider that the market will soon come to ED and Mercedes SLS Porsche 918 will not be surprised if 2014 Audi R8 eTron yet come into production in the near future.
2014 Audi R8 eTron release date
Audi may show a production version of the R8 e-tron at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
The production version was scheduled for this year, but the uncertainty about whether one will be sold has forced a delay in its on-sale date – it likely won’t reach European showrooms until sometime in 2014.
